CHAPTER 26

“I DID it,” Emma confessed through her tears. She had called Chad, and they were back at the same place, beers in front of them. With her heart broken into a million pieces, Emma had every intention of getting smashed.

“I went to Skylar’s house, but he was there with someone else,” she said, tears falling as she remembered watching Skylar and Aiden make love. “Here. Look!” she said, throwing her cell phone at Chad. “See? I told you that he doesn’t want me. He wants him!” And then she started to cry harder. Why had she ever agreed to go to Skylar’s house?

Oh my God, this couldn’t be more perfect. Chad was almost giddy glancing at the photos on Emma’s cell phone. Lady Luck was definitely on his side. Now to think of something toxic to do with this delightful information.

Remembering Emma was watching, Chad turned his charm back to her. Putting an arm around Emma, he cooed, “Oh, sweetie, I’m so very sorry.” Squeezing her closer to him, Chad patted Emma’s hair, trying to calm her. “You know, I’m not going to let him get away with this. He has to pay for hurting you in this way.”

“What do you mean? What are you going to do?” she said, her voice choking with emotion.

“Not me, darling. You,” he said while lightly stroking her hair. “I want you to mail these lovely photos to Skylar’s manager.” As she started to protest, she felt Chad place a finger over her mouth. “No… listen to me. I have the address. You send these photos to his manager, and I promise you that Skylar will no longer be able to see this guy.”

“How do you know?” Emma asked.

“Because, darling, not only do I know your beloved Skylar, I also know his manager. He is a money-hungry, no-talent piece of crap. He will not want anything out there that might damage the scheme he has going with Skylar.”

“I still don’t understand.”

Losing his patience Chad continued to stroke her hair and whisper promises. “Just trust me. Send those pictures anonymously, and soon you’ll see that these two boys are finished.”

Emma could only nod in agreement.
